Skyping with our Quadblogging Friends in Hawaii

5SK had an amazing experience today. They Skyped with students in Hawaii! It was definitely a fantastic way to end the term.

We chatted about school, food, animals, leisure activities and what it is like in both of our countries. 5SK were amazed to see all of the iPads in 5B’s classroom. They operate with 1:1 iPads. As we talked about topics, we could see the 5B students research to find pictures and then shared them with us. At the conclusion of our Skype session, the students of 5BFish sang us the most beautiful song. You could hear a pin drop in our room as the students were listening and transfixed on the beautiful sounds.

Thank you 5B from your friends in Australia.

Global Read Aloud Day

Ms Shannon and the students of Tiperary Station,

Thank you for sharing the Global Read Aloud Day with us. This was the first time Skyping for our current class and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We look forward to connecting with you again to learn more about station life.

Mrs Scharf and 5S

Info about our session: During first session today we were very lucky as we were able to Skype with the students from Tiperary Station in the Northern Territory for the Global Read Aloud Day.

This school is situated at Tiperary Station which is approximately two hours drive from Darwin. To say this property is huge is an understatement. It is over 500, 000 acres in size!

Ms Shannon and her students read Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late and we read Millie the Meerkat.

We really enjoyed listening to their presentation as Ms Shannon and her students used expression when reading and they even had a toy pigeon act out scenes. Gus and Ale were very brave and were the first students in our class to run a Skype session. They did a great job. Well done Gus and Ale.

Global Read Aloud

I have some very exciting news 5SK. We are going to link up with Tipperary Station School in remote Northern Territory for Global Read Aloud Day on March 5.
