Mini Golf Challenge

5SK have been very busy this term designing and constructing their very own mini golf course. Our inspiration for this project came from Mr Avery’s classroom blog. After viewing their fantastic designs we decided that we would build our own.

Here are a few pictures of our mini golf course.

Sophia and the Flipped Classroom

5SK participated in their first flipped lesson using the Sophia Learning website today. They were able to build their schema on saving for an event and tomorrow they will apply this knowledge to a task.

Flipped Lesson
1. Watch tutorial – during the tutorial 5SK were asked to pause the lesson and answer questions based on the topic
2. Assessment (informal) – At the end of the tutorial a question was set online to assess their learning

Students were able to work at their own pace during this session and this gave them more opportunity to go back and watch the video again to gather further understanding.

Passwords will be sent home next week so that the students can watch the math tutorials at home. This will be very helpful for students who are away or need extra time on the topic.

5SK have been given the challenge of creating a mini golf course. They are beyond excited! During our visit to the lab yesterday, they searched the internet for design ideas and gathered photos. They are now thinking about their design and the equipment that they will need.

We will require assistance during the construction stage in week 3 and 4. If you have any time available in the afternoon session please let me know. I aim to have one adult (with building skills) per group.

The students are also going to be searching for equipment. A big piece of carpet has been donated and I will try and source some wood and lino. Any items that you have at home would be greatly appreciated.
